Taken from fairy tales

Botanically, the hazelnut (Corylus avellana) belongs to the Betulaceae family. The shrub, which can reach up to 5 m in height and retains its green leaves throughout the summer, has been highly prized for centuries for its protein- and oil-rich nuts. Our aromatic Levantine hazelnut kernels come from Rapunzel's partners on the Black Sea coast.

The hazelnuts ripen between August and September. The organic hazelnuts are shaken off the tree and then collected by hand from the ground. After being left to dry for 5-7 days in the sun, they are peeled of their green shell. In order to preserve their freshness for as long as possible, the hazelnuts are cracked and peeled of their hard outer shell just before being shipped to Germany.

Hazelnuts are rich in protein, B vitamins and vitamin E, as well as minerals such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, phosphorus and iron.

Did you know that the hazelnut is a symbol of health, love, immortality, spring and luck?
